Financial advice can feel complicated before you begin. Many clients ask us the same questions: What happens first? What will I receive? How long will it take? And what will it cost?
To make the process easier to understand, we have set out what you can expect when working with Hayden, our financial adviser. Hayden works alongside the C&H team, allowing your financial advice to be considered together with your existing tax and business position.
Meet our Financial Planner
Hayden Pike
Bachelor of Finance (Financial Planning)
Start with a free discovery call
It all starts with an initial obligation-free conversation. This is usually a 15 to 30 minute discovery call which covers your goals, what’s on your mind, and a general sense of where you currently stand.
Your discovery meeting is completely complimentary, with no pressure to proceed further. In some cases, Hayden may be able to answer your questions or provide general guidance during the conversation. Regardless of the outcome, you’ll receive a follow-up email summarising the discussion, any suggested next steps, and an estimate of the costs associated with any advice areas explored.
Understanding Your Financial Position
Following the discovery call, the next step is gathering the detail so Hayden can start to build a strategy around your situation.
A strategy meeting with Hayden (60 to 90 minutes) walks through exactly where you stand, what advice could achieve, and where support could help. This is also where you’ll get a clearer, more specific quote for the cost of proceeding. If you decide not to go ahead at this point, you’ll still walk away with a genuinely useful picture of your financial trajectory.
Receive Clear, Written Advice
Once you’re ready to proceed, Hayden will undertake the detailed research, analysis and financial modelling required to develop recommendations tailored to your circumstances and objectives. These recommendations will be documented in a comprehensive Statement of Advice (SOA), clearly outlining the strategies being recommended, the rationale behind them, and how they align with your financial goals.
You’ll then meet with Hayden to walk through the advice in plain English, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and fully understand your options before making any decisions.
Put the Strategy into Action
Once your Statement of Advice has been reviewed and accepted, Hayden will guide you through the implementation process from start to finish. From preparing and lodging paperwork to coordinating with investment platforms, superannuation funds, insurers and other providers, we take care of the administrative work so you can focus on what matters most.
Implementation is supported by a transparent 12-month service agreement, providing access to ongoing advice, reviews and support throughout the year. There are no open-ended arrangements or unexpected costs, just a clear understanding of the services you’ll receive, the value being provided, and the support available to help keep your plans on track.
Common Questions
Every advice fee is a fixed fee, based on the strategy involved, never a percentage of your assets, and always agreed with you in writing before any work begins. For context, the average advice fee across the industry is $4,744. Ours generally starts from $3,300, with a no obligation, no-fee discovery call.
No, the discovery call is part of our service offering to you, with no obligation to go further.
Unlike a standalone financial adviser, Hayden works closely with the C&H accounting team and has access to a deeper understanding of your tax, business and financial position. This collaborative approach means your accounting and financial advice are aligned, opportunities are less likely to be overlooked, and you won’t need to spend time repeating your story to multiple professionals. The result is a more coordinated strategy that’s designed with your complete financial situation in mind.
While many super funds can provide advice about your superannuation account, their advice is generally limited to the products and investments held within that fund. Hayden takes a broader, holistic approach, considering all aspects of your financial life, including superannuation, investments, insurance, cashflow management, debt, retirement planning, Centrelink entitlements and wealth transfer strategies. Rather than focusing on a single piece of the puzzle, the advice is designed to ensure all parts of your financial position work together to support your long-term goals.
Advice can be as narrow or as wide as you need, from a single question through to your entire financial position. It doesn’t need to be complex to be worthwhile.
A fixed fee, agreed in writing, before any advice work begins.
Roughly 3 months, from the discovery call through to fully implemented advice.
